43 Days...

Since our trip to the movies to see The Spiderwick Chronicles was so well attended and everyone seemed to have a good time, our class thought that we would like to see another movie together. Coincidentally (hee, hee), we are reading Nim's Island as a class right now, and it comes to movie theaters this Friday. If you like the idea, please vote in the survey on the right of this page.

Today's assignments:

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter break, and hopefully the weather is kind to us as well. There will be no homework packet or spelling homework during the week of March 31.
Don't forget that the carnival is coming up on April 19 and the PTO is in desperate need of volunteers.
I plan to spend spring vacation painting and packing my house to get ready to put it on the market. I will also be grading the weather tests and planning for our next science unit of instruction which will be about erosion and weathering. Enjoy the time with your families!

Test Tomorrow

Don't forget to study for the social studies test tomorrow.
We will also have Judy Krebs with a weather presentation.

The PTO has asked each teacher to find at LEAST five volunteers to work at the CNE carnival on April 19. If each of you could check your already busy schedules and find an hour or two to work at the carnival, the PTO and I would be especially grateful. The shifts are 9:30-11, 11-12, 12-1, 1-2, and 2-3:30. I will even offer homework passes to my students who have parents who work at least one shift at the carnival. (Limit one homework pass per student.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yes, there are a lot of tests this week, but if we waited to do the assessments after the break, the students would not be able to completely enjoy the days off knowing that tests awaited them upon their return to school. We also want them to take the tests while the material is fresh in their minds:) So don't forget to study for social studies, science, reading, and spelling-the math test was taken today!

Projects Due Tomorrow

Literature projects are due tomorrow. Students were given a cereal box project template to use for this month's project.
The weather contract is also due tomorrow at the end of science class. Since we have spent several weeks on this contract, they will be collected at the end of class tomorrow. Points will be lost for every required item that was not completed. Congratulations to Holly Su., Faith, Jessica, and Bailey who completed this lengthy project in advance!

Beautiful Day!

Hopefully everyone has a little bit of time to spend outdoors today! It is so nice and the kids definitely need to share their energy!

On the other hand, people who have procrastinated have a lot on their plates tonight and tomorrow night. Tomorrow a reading test is scheduled over Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Slippery Salamander. On Friday, fantasy literature projects are due as well as the usual homework and spelling. It will also be the last day to work on the weather contract in class. At the end of science, I will be collecting that contract and the ABC books with them.

Next Thursday (3/20), there will be a science test on Weather.

Our next Market Day will be the week we return from spring break!

Another 2 Hour Delay

We spent time working our weather contracts today. They are due on Friday. Everyone in our class has completed the group activity section worth 140 points, and some students have finished everything except the ABC book, but there are several students who are lagging behind. On Friday I will collect the contracts and grades will be based on the completed items with incomplete items resulting in lower grades. Students have had ample time in class and also been encouraged to work on the ABC book at home.

Literature projects (fantasy) are also due on Friday. Cereal box templates were sent home with every student and are also available if you click here.

Our story this week is an Encyclopedia Brown mystery. The test will be Thursday.
